Welcome to part 4 of this 5 blog post series! It’s been great seeing the feedback — thank you!
In Part 3/5 physical activities such as hiking, swimming, walking and doing yoga, were looked at which are all great for your health!

Cleaning Your Apartment
How does cleaning your apartment affect your health you ask?
Well, according to Zen and the Art of Falling in Love by Brenda Shoshanna:
“In Zen practice the sparseness and cleanliness of the room we sit in or live naturally affects our state of mind. It also reflects what is going on inside us and is a manifestation of it. The more we learn to clean our spaces, removing that which is no longer needed, the sooner our hearts can become open to experiencing something new.”
(Ch 5: Cleaning House — Clean Your House Thoroughly)
Are you really surprised though?
Similar to how the food we put into our body literally makes up who we physically are on a cellular level, so too is our environment a manifestation of our inner state of being.
Take it from someone who went from a possession focus and a fancy Bay St. apartment to living out of a backpack 🎒 The level of freedom, non-possessiveness and emotional release I went through can only be understand from first hand experience. Furthermore maintaining a clean apartment frees your mind to work on a higher level and I found more is accomplished than when it was messy. Anyone else notice this?
