In this article I explain why I prefer cellular data over wifi, share the cost of different data plans around Asia and reveal a fantastic deal I received here in Vietnam!
As an international traveller and resident, I find it particularly interesting to compare prices of everyday items. Sometimes, items/services are about the same price as in Canada such as many Western brands names (Apple, Nike, Sephora) and other times, they’re not (food, rent, transportation). Today we’re going to talk about a service that is not the same, or even similar, to Canada — cell phone plans!

Solo Trip Abroad has three pillars: Work Mobile. Consume Local. Live Global. Today, we’ll talk about “Consume Local.”
Consume Local emphasizes the following:
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reducing the products I consume, especially food. Diet is a particular struggle of mine. The biggest so far, is soda!
Keeping reading to learn how I’m reducing waste and making better dietary choices by supporting local businesses, all of which are owned and operated by women!

As I continue building and modifying this website, it’s become clear — there’s always more to learn. And, there’s a lot to manage. Such management requires tools which is what I’ll share with you today.
Many are familiar with IFTTT, it allows two internet services to connect and create an action if a certain event/trigger happens. For example, IF you post a photo on Instagram with a specific hashtag, THEN it will update the same photo on twitter. Or, IF your Uber ride is completed, THEN it will send an email to a friend, letting them know you arrived home safe.
What I’m finding really helpful, is how IFTTT shows a variety of services that work on the platform. This is a great way to learn about tons of different internet services, and their functions, without having to go and look yourself on Google.
