I’ve had Apple Watch, Series 3, GPS for two and a half months now. It’s functionality has fit easily into my life and I am pleased with the purchase. The video review below cover the four functions of the Apple Watch that are most often used in my day-to-day life. They include:

Write a comment if you’re using, or thinking about getting, an Apple Watch! In this article I explain why I prefer cellular data over wifi, share the cost of different data plans around Asia and reveal a fantastic deal I received here in Vietnam! As an international traveller and resident, I find it particularly interesting to compare prices of everyday items. Sometimes, items/services are about the same price as in Canada such as many Western brands names (Apple, Nike, Sephora) and other times, they’re not (food, rent, transportation). Today we’re going to talk about a service that is not the same, or even similar, to Canada — cell phone plans! Click the country sub-titles to view all blog posts about that country.
Solo Trip Abroad has three pillars to help guide decision making and website content focus: Work Mobile. Consume Local. Live Global. Today, we’ll talk about what I use to support Solo Trip Abroad and related social media under the Work Mobile pillar: Digital Automation.
As I continue building and modifying this website, it’s become clear — there’s always more to learn. And, there’s a lot to manage. Such management requires tools which is what I’ll share with you today. Many are familiar with IFTTT, it allows two internet services to connect and create an action if a certain event/trigger happens. For example, IF you post a photo on Instagram with a specific hashtag, THEN it will update the same photo on twitter. Or, IF your Uber ride is completed, THEN it will send an email to a friend, letting them know you arrived home safe. What I’m finding really helpful, is how IFTTT shows a variety of services that work on the platform. This is a great way to learn about tons of different internet services, and their functions, without having to go and look yourself on Google. One day, earlier this week, I attempt to journey out deep into the Vietnamese mountains and do some solo camping. An item on My 50 + 100 bucket list, and something I want to do so I can detox from society for a bit. You know? Relax in a valley with nothing but my tent, a fire and a gorgeous backdrop of mountains to keep me company.
Thus, I venture out past a puny village — further and further into seclusion. Nearly out of gas, 15km downhill from the nearest hand pumped gas tank, no cell service and everything I own on my back. I find a valley that looks promising. It's just down this strongly eroded mud slide, roughly 80ft tall. No big deal. I make my descent and am nearly at the valley. First, I need to clear this brush, and climb down a few large rocks. Setting my bag on the ground, I navigate my way through the brush. Making some headway on clearing a path, I'm nearly at the valley. Just as I'm figuring out how to overcome the last bit of brush, it starts to rain, a lot. I spin around and start rushing back up to my bag. My dearest Netflix,
We've been together for so long. Our relationship started out roughly five years ago. Your sexy domain caught my gaze, and your offer of a no-strings-attached-all-access-granted two week trial was enticing. Not many people offer home base for a two week trial period up front, but that's just the kind of person I wanted! Ever since I entered my credit card number, you were always there for me. Keeping me company on lonely nights, and being an amazing host when guests came over. Your willingness to entertain and satisfy has been much appreciated. The idea presented in this post is not the first time it's been shared. I've discussed this thought with my former Apple colleagues a few years ago and t's now even more sensible. With the recent advances from SpaceX, it seems the age of Apple controlling the last piece of the mobile device puzzle (network infrastructure) is becoming very economically feasible. Listen to the rest of my thoughts on the matter! ![]()
I have a bit of a bone to pick with people putting pictures of infants on social media, for the sake of preserving the child's lack of online presence. Adults and guardians (and the rest of us) don't understand what actually happens to our social media activity and content once it's posted, or even deleted! ![]()
Obviously, you've heard at least something from the keynote by now. I was pretty impressed with the announcements, and decided to make my first completely audio post to discuss it! Below are two recordings, one is a short summary of my thoughts on the keynote, the second is my full analysis of the event.
