On March 15, 2016 I launched Solo Trip Abroad with the intention of having a record of my travels, adventures and thoughts along the way. This would serve as a way to offer what I learn, provide resources and insight to anyone who is interested in taking action and moving abroad or considering a travel-as-a-lifestyle change.
The blog offers insight into my perspective, my thoughts, and hopefully you can get a sense of my tone. I've also seen it as a way to become more creative expressive and share my journey with all of you!
Running my own website is a first for me and I'm proud of the progress I've made so far. What's interesting about it all is there is so much to always be tinkering with. Tweak this a little, start adding some of that, and with some persistent work, you can actually build quite the little project. I have become familiar with how the new software works and have a platform to build digital projects upon. This translates into allowing my creativity to be applied to a real-time on-going project of mine. As I've been exploring this new activity (operating a website) the list of additions or changes I'd like to perform is growing and this keeps me engaged! Most recently, this engagement has come from building upon my platform, and now including a new expansion!
Today I would like to officially announce a new page of the website called Prints!
Over the past several years, I have enjoyed photography with just my iPhone and collected a number of great shots which I would like to share with you! I wanted something more than simply looking at photos online. Anyone and everyone does this! I wanted to create and offer something tangible, something which tells a story and has meaning behind it! I strive to take shots which make the observer feel present in the moment and inspire them to take action on travelling. As my list of geographic locations expands, the Prints page will be updated to reflect both countries and locations where photos were taken.
For those of you who have been through my site, hopefully my perspective will be apparent through my photos.
A third party will manufacture the prints from my collections. They will receive the photos, produce and ship the prints on canvas, multi-canvas prints, have them framed, or even order posters! Furthermore, there are numerous dimensions available and a variety of trimming options. Every order comes with a 100% Lifetime Love Guarantee and is hand-made in America!
The company has their own customer service, handles payment processing, refunds and quality control. Based on what I experienced while dealing with their support team, for getting my store online, I can say my experience with them has been fantastic! See their FAQ page for more information. Prices are originally set in USD and will be adjusted based on geography (this is why some prices appear to be random numbers instead of round numbers).
Throughout the month of August I was working on building this new section of the website and playing with various design layouts. I'm proud to be able to make this ecommerce addition to my website! At some point in the future I believe I will be able to reflect back and acknowledge this as another point in time, a point in which was pivotal to my direction and platform in life.
Regarding my Personal Philosophy the website fits into multiple categories (in order as they appear in the Personal Philosophy).
The website provides support for the ongoing applications of many components in life. Virtual personal expression, creative writing, brainstorming, research, the elements of the Personal Philosophy and creative photography all of which are positive side effects.
For someone who always liked to build and assemble things, building and running a website should have kicked in sooner. Nonetheless, I've started doing it, it feels fulfilling, and is scalable allowing me to incorporate more ideas and create my own opportunities as I become aware of them. This is great for self-learning and accomplishing something at the same time.
There may be some of you considering launching a website, there is much to bear in mind. The most important thing I've been cognizant of, is how you can constantly be working on it. The site doesn't have to be a million amazing things when you start. Over time you start to see how, all of the sudden you can apply pieces of your life to it. This now allows you to build it up in ways you didn't think possible! The lesson here is to start by starting and remember you can fix it along the way with the main focus on getting the site launched!
Thank you to everyone who checks out the content over at Prints, I'm sure you'll see something interesting.
Until the next update,
